My name is Chandra Sharma. My pronouns are she/her/hers. I am from Bhutan. I moved to Canada for studies in Dec. 2022. I am currently pursuing a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Relations and Corporate Communications at Seneca College. It is my first semester currently. Also, I am a Peer Ambassador at Seneca and I deal with Gender Based and Sexual Violence Prevention Education. Along with that I am also a volunteer with PRofessionals and Coffee.

I did my bachelor’s in media studies and English at the Royal University of Bhutan. I have worked individually as a freelancer and in government institutions teaching IELTS and English and Media Studies, respectively. I have my professional goals aligned towards communicating with impact and influence and building leadership and working in teams.

I am an aspiring PR professional or Communication Coordinator and basically have interest in non-profit organizations.

I read, listen, and smile often.

Volunteer of the Week – Chandra Kala Sharma

What comes to mind when you envision a determined student? Someone who is not only driven and focused but also versatile and compassionate. One such individual is Chandra Kala Sharma, a dedicated student, an HR professional, a Gender-Based Sexual Violence (GBSV) Prevention Education Peer Ambassador at Seneca College, and a new mom.

Chandra’s academic journey began with a keen interest in human dynamics and corporate communications, leading her to pursue a Graduate Certificate in Public Relations and Corporate Communication at Seneca Polytechnic. Following her passion for human resources, Chandra furthered her education with a Postgraduate Certificate in Human Resources Management from the same esteemed institution.

Believing firmly in the power of practical experience over theoretical knowledge, Chandra has immersed herself in various significant roles. As an HR and Communications Coordinator at PRofessionals & Coffee, Chandra has excelled in managing intricate workplace dynamics and enhancing internal communications. Her role as a GBSV Prevention Education Peer Ambassador has not only highlighted her commitment to social issues but also honed her skills in sensitive and impactful communication.

Amidst these professional achievements, Chandra has recently embraced the most profound role of becoming a mother. This new journey has added another layer to her multifaceted life, bringing new perspectives and motivations into her work and volunteerism.

Awarded for her outstanding volunteer work, Chandra continues to inspire and lead by example, showing that dedication and the right opportunities can indeed pave the way for substantial personal and professional growth.
