Wherever there are books, there is me! Hello, I am Ridhi Verma. I am a student of Public Relations and Corporate Communications at Seneca. I am a communications enthusiast, social media manager of Seneca Hackathon and a volunteer at PRofessionals and Coffee.

Previously, I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Delhi University, India.With different internship experiences in content writing, human resources, public relations and marketing, I have realized how good communication is necessary for every aspect of life.

To-Do lists and habit tracking are a way of life for me. Also, I am an avid reader and a collector of different genres of books. It is my dream to visit Paris someday and Vivre en France!

Volunteer of the Week – Ridhi Verma

Ridhi Verma is an accomplished Internal Communications Officer at TNG Community Services, where she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in public relations, internal communications, and media relations.

Ridhi’s journey into public relations began with her pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in commerce. During her studies, she undertook various internships and volunteer roles in human resources, content writing, and marketing. This exposure helped her discover a passion for communications, leading her to an internship in PR. Determined to deepen her expertise, Ridhi sought out educational programs in Canada, where she found opportunities to expand her knowledge and skills in the field of public relations.

Her academic journey in Canada included studying Public Relations and Corporate Communications at Seneca College, where she gained comprehensive knowledge in investor relations, internal communications, and media relations. She valued the connections she made with her professors, which enriched her learning experience. To further understand the Canadian market, Ridhi took a foundational digital marketing course at York University, adding another layer to her skill set.

She emphasizes the critical role of internships in the PR and communications industry. Internships provide practical experience, allowing students to apply their theoretical knowledge and gain real-world insights. They also offer invaluable networking opportunities, helping budding professionals build relationships with mentors and industry leaders. Internships are particularly crucial in PR and communications for learning media handling, client and team relationship management, and effective messaging.

At TNG Community Services, Ridhi is dedicated to broadening her skill set and deepening her understanding of public relations and stakeholder relationships. She is actively working on building a robust network within the Canadian media relations field and aims to enhance her expertise in managing these critical areas. Ridhi’s short-term goals focus on strengthening her media relations network within the Canadian industry as she advances in her communications career. She also aims to use her skills to assist newcomers to the field, providing support and guidance as they embark on their professional journeys.

Her advice for young professionals looking to break into the PR and communications industry is “Network, network, network! It’s not just about making new connections but also about keeping them active and engaging”. She encourages being proactive, seizing opportunities, and learning from both peers and mentors. Exploring various roles within PR, communications, and
marketing can help young professionals find their best fit. Ridhi advises staying open-minded and curious, as the next great opportunity might be just around the corner.

With her diverse experience and dedication to continuous learning, Ridhi Verma exemplifies the qualities of a passionate and skilled communications professional, making significant contributions to TNG Community Services and the broader PR industry.
