Melanie Perkins, is the Co-Funder and CEO of Canva, a design software platform launched in 2013.
Canva’s platform enables the creation of appealing visuals for social media posts, resumes, presentations and several more attractive communication materials.
Canva’s headquarters are located in Sydney. Perkins has built not only a design platform but also a design brand that is currently used as a graphic tool by thousands of brands around the world.
Canva has been a strong rival against technological giants like Adobe and Microsoft, and its use is accessible and easy for those with little knowledge of design.
According to Perkins her business philosophy might seem like an odd North Star for a company offering templates for presentations and save-the-date cards.
Perkins has been comfortable going against the grain. “There’s always been forks in the road [where we could] do what every other company is doing, or just do what feels natural. Every time we do what feels natural, it always ends up being the thing we build on.”
