What do you see when you think of an international student? I see a brave, courageous and resilient person who had incredible strength. Strength to leave behind their whole lives, their friends, family, their hometown and everything they ever owned or built for the promise of a better life; to build a brighter future for themselves, to rewrite their own destiny. Their journeys are far from easy, and this week I have the privilege of highlighting one such inspiring journey. The journey of Aditi Soni, an international student, a PR professional and a volunteer at PRofessionals and Coffee. With a special knack for PR and a nuanced understanding of the field along with her invaluable experience and knowledge Aditi recently graduated from York University with a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations!
Aditi’s journey started with her bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and then there was no turning back. Gradually she realized her interest in PR and started working in the domain after her graduation which eventually brought her to pursue her dreams in the country of opportunities; Canada! Aditi strongly believes that practical experience triumphs theoretical knowledge, and thus she immersed herself into various volunteering opportunities and internships to expand the working knowledge of her field.
With the golden advice of “Let your work speak for itself” Aditi has been accorded with CPRS Toronto’s ‘Volunteer of the Year’ Award. She is just the person you might want to onboard for anything and everything PR. From advertising to campaign management to graphics designing, you name it and she can do it! With a growth oriented mindset Aditi keeps inspiring budding PR professionals to grow, learn and explore their full potential.
Her two cents for newcomers out there? : ‘Own your space and invest in yourself. Opportunities will themself knock your door, just trust the process’
And that’s Aditi for you! A confident young PR professional, a risk taker, an immigrant and someone who wears multiple hats; trying her hands at new things, learning, exploring and growing.
