In his distinguished career, Kabeer’s leadership reached its zenith during his tenure as President & CEO at U Microfinance Bank. Under his astute guidance, he led a remarkable turnaround, propelling the bank to become the largest and most profitable institution in the microfinance space in Pakistan. A driving force for advocacy in the microfinance sector, Kabeer collaborated with government and international agencies for debt and equity mobilization. His strategic acumen at U Bank resulted in significant financial milestones, market share expansion, and groundbreaking digital strategies, including the implementation of AI-based credit scoring models. Among Kabeer’s notable achievements is the establishment of the largest branch and ATM network in the Microfinance Industry, management of the largest Corporate Finance portfolio, largest Treasury book and the pioneering of the first Sharia-based Microfinance arm in the country. His initiatives earned U Bank two rating upgrades, a testament to his unwavering commitment to financial health and growth. In addition to his role at U Microfinance Bank, Kabeer is recognized as an expert financial consultant with a unique experience of building a financial institution from the ground up. His wealth of experience positions him as a valuable resource for emerging markets, where he can lend his expertise to help set up banks, fintechs, NBFCs, or other startups. Kabeer Naqvi currently divides his time between Islamabad, Pakistan, and Naperville – Chicago, Illinois, USA where he is runs a consulting firm under the name, Silver River Consulting LLC.
