Andrea Chrysanthou's Bio

Andrea Chrysanthou is an award-winning and results-oriented communicator with almost 15 years of experience in public relations, public affairs, marketing and corporate communications. She has a proven track record of developing and executing successful strategies that amplify brands, increase awareness, improve trust and secure buy-in for priorities among key audiences. She is skilled at leveraging current trends to help brands tell narratives that are meaningful and impactful. Her media relations strategies have won three Gold awards from the Canadian Public Relations Society and consistently lead to coverage in top-tier media nationwide and internationally. She also counsels clients dealing with reputational issues, helping them to not only mitigate risks but leverage crises to improve their reputation and build stronger relationships with stakeholders. Her strategies consistently increases awareness, builds trust and motivates key audiences. She is a previous professor at the School of Media & Communication Studies at the University of Guelph Humber. She is also a guest-lecture at communications programs at several Canadian universities and colleges and regularly mentor recent communications grads through regional and national initiatives. Before her career in communications, she worked as a journalist and producer at some of Canada’s top national broadcasters as well as international news organizations. The experience gives her a unique understanding of what the media needs to actualize a great story. She is one of less than 500 Canadians Accredited in Public Relations (APR) through the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) and is passionate about advancing the communications industry in Canada. In her spare time, she serves as the Vice President and President-Elect for the CPRS Toronto Chapter and as Chair of the Board for Children First Canada, a charitable organization that advocates making Canada the best place in the world for kids to grow up. Previously, she served on the Board of Directors for the Public Affairs Association of Canada and the Ward Museum, a museum without walls dedicated to telling Canada’s immigrant stories.
