Before her role at the Toronto Star, Marina served as CEO of CanadaHelps, a leading platform for charitable giving in Canada, where she empowered small charities by providing tools to reach donors and build fundraising capacity. Her expertise in digital transformation also stems from senior leadership roles at tech-driven companies like Kobo Inc. and Lavalife Corp.

Marina’s journey in journalism began in the former Yugoslavia, where she worked as a writer and translator, developing a deep respect for free media in a controlled environment. After moving to Canada, she entered the media industry with NOW Magazine as VP of Sales and Marketing and later advanced to Senior VP and Group Publisher at Toronto Life and St. Joseph’s Media.

At the Toronto Star, Marina focused on expanding the newspaper’s digital presence, growing its audience, and advancing its subscription model. She currently serves on the board of VerticalScope Inc. and has held roles with The Walrus Magazine Foundation and Magazines Canada, strengthening her influence in the media landscape.
